9. APPROVAL OF THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT FEES FOR 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEARDescription In accordance with School Board Rule 5.39, fees must be approved yearly at a School Board meeting prior to the end of the school year.

CERTIFICATION OF EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES INVENTORYDescription Chapter 1013, F.S., requires School Board to certify annually that its educational facilities data within the Florida Inventory of School Houses is current and accurate. The district's data has been updated by the Plan Room within Construction Services to reflect all changes made since the 2016 certification.
Recommendation That the School Board of Sarasota County certify that the district's educational facilities data is current and accurate.

11. APPROVAL OF THE CONTRACT BETWEEN CHILDREN'S THERAPY WORKS AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDADescription The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act IDEA (2004) requires school districts to set aside a proportional share of their Federal IDEA funds to provide services to students with disabilities enrolled in private schools by their parent, including McKay Scholarship students. The services most requested by private schools are speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. Since the district does not have direct hire staff available to provide these services, contracts with private vendors like Children's Therapy Works are being implemented to meet this requirement. The total contract amount not to exceed $95,000.00.

APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE STATE COLLEGE OF FLORIDA, MANATEE-SARASOTA AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDADescription The renewal of this agreement is to provide a comprehensive learning experience for participating students enrolled in the various College's Health Profession programs (Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapy Assistant, etc.).

Pieces of a Dream Counseling Center (POADCC) will provide prevention services for Sarasota County district children who also access care at Pieces of a Dream Counseling Center.

APPROVAL OF AFFILIATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN ANIMAL ER OF UNIVERSITY PARK AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDADescription The School Board offers to enrolled students a Veterinary Assisting program and Animal ER of University Park manages a veterinary/animal care facility. The School Board desires to provide to its students a clinical learning experience through the application of knowledge and clinical skills in a veterinary/animal care facility and Animal ER of University Park has agreed to make its facility available to School Board for such purposes.
Recommendation That the Affiliation Agreement between Animal ER of University Park and The School Board of Sarasota County, Florida be approved as presented.

APPROVAL OF PARKS INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN SARASOTA COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND THE SCHOOL BOARD OF SARASOTA COUNTY, FLORIDADescription Since 1996, Sarasota County School Board and the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners have had an agreement through which school facilities and fields were made available to the citizens of Sarasota County. The scope of that agreement was limited to Booker Middle School, Sarasota Middle School, Pine View, and Venice Middle School. This new agreement will provide greater opportunities for residents of Sarasota County to use school facilities and fields for park or recreational use. In doing so, this agreement establishes a framework for joint use, maintenance, and management of school facilities as recreational and sports venues between Sarasota County Parks and Recreation and Natural Resources and Sarasota County Schools.
Recommendation That the School Board approve the Interlocal Agreement between the Sarasota County Board of County Commissioners and the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida for the joint use, maintenance, and management of park and recreational resources on school campuses.

16. APPROVAL OF THE ECOSYSTEMS TOUR GRANT PROPOSAL TO THE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT (SWFWMD) FOR CRANBERRY ELEMENTARY SCHOOLDescription COMPETITIVE: Grant funds of $2,925 will provide hands-on experiences to Cranberry Elementary students with the local ecosystem.

APPROVAL OF SARASOTA AND NORTH PORT HIGH'S VEX ROBOTICS CLUB TO ATTEND 2017 VEX ROBOTICS WORLD TOURNAMENT ON APRIL 18-23, 2017 IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKYDescription The VEX World Tournament is a direct result of applying the robotics and engineering in class to build a robot to compete in the VEX challenge.
Recommendation That the field trip for Sarasota and North Port High's VEX Robotics Club to attend 2017 VEX Robotics World Tournament on April 18-23, 2017 in Louisville, Kentucky be approved as presented.
18. APPROVAL FOR SARASOTA HIGH'S MAST STUDENTS TO ATTEND THE INTEL INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FAIR IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA ON MAY 14-19, 2017Description Students will compete at the Intel International Science Fair. They will be presenting their research projects to judges, network with community members from across the world, share ideas with other high school students from countries around the world, and attend presentations by industry professionals and international companies.
Recommendation That the field trip for Sarasota High's MaST students to attend the Intel International Science Fair in Los Angeles, California on May 14-19, 2017 be approved as presented.
CONSTRUCTION
19. APPROVAL AND/OR RATIFICATION OF CONSTRUCTION SERVICES' CHANGE ORDERSDescription The Construction Services' Change Orders are summarized on the enclosure for ease of review. These change orders collectively total a decrease of ($34,216.88) in gross contract dollars.
Included in these change orders are ($34,216.88) credit for Direct Material Purchases; the corresponding Direct Material Purchase Orders of ($32,185.74) resulting in a net of $2,031.14 in sales tax savings.

20. APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO PURCHASE TWENTY-ONE SCHOOL BUSESDescription This purchase is a direct replacement of nineteen (19) regular a/c school buses and two (2) a/c lift buses in accordance with the thirteen (13) year replacement cycle and approved in the 2016-2017 capital transportation budget. Replacement will be twenty-one (21) of the worst condition buses that have high mileage and nearing the point of possible costly repairs, with new buses that get better fuel mileage and contain the newest safety equipment that will benefit child safety.
Recommendation That the purchase of twenty-one (21) new buses to replace twenty-one (21) buses on the scheduled thirteen (13) year replacement cycle be approved as presented.
21. APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO PURCHASE ELEVEN WHITE FLEET VEHICLESDescription This purchase is to replace eleven (11) of the oldest and worst condition district vehicles with high mileage and nearing the point of possible costly repairs. The Capital Budgeted amount of $351,000 will be used to purchase these 11 vehicles.
Recommendation That the purchase of eleven (11) new white fleet vehicles be approved as presented.

25. APPROVAL OF BUDGET AMENDMENTS FOR THE GENERAL FUND AND THE CAPITAL FUNDDescription
The Budget Amendments reflects the results of operations through February 28, 2017. General revenues are being adjusted to reflect receipt of the Best and Brightest Scholarship award and recognition of the collection of property taxes at the 97% level. General appropriations are being adjusted to reflect the negotiated salary settlement, early implementation of hiring the Assistant Superintendent – Chief Academic Officer, early implementation of filling the Executive Director of Human Resources, and early implementation of two Administrative Assistants. Capital revenues are being adjusted to recognize the collection of property taxes at the 97% level, County Impact Fees coming in above the original budget, increases in Sales Tax Revenue, and the receipt of refunds of fuel taxes above the original budget. Capital appropriations are being adjusted to allow for improvements to the Venice High School track and early implementation of funding for renovations at Venice Middle School. A change to the funding for the purchase of furniture and equipment for the new Suncoast Technical College – North Port from General Revenue to the Capital fund is also included impacting both amendments.

APPROVAL OF THE RELEASE OF THE SUPERINTENDENT'S PROPOSED 2017-2018 BUDGETDescription During the March 21, 2017 School Board Work Session, the Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer reviewed the proposed 2017-2018 budget updated for results of operations in the current fiscal year and incorporating the recommended additional/converted positions discussed during the February 21, 2017 School Board Work Session.
Recommendation That the Superintendent's proposed 2017-2018 budget be released to schools and departments to begin the budget review and staffing process.
